Social Impact Communications Minor

Dennis Charsky, Professor and Minor Coordinator

The Live Event Design + Management minor prepares students to work in all areas of the live event industry, including concert production, brand experiences, corporate events, festivals, and sports competitions. Students are introduced to the minor through a critical event studies course in which they explore the power that live events can have on people, places, and society. Then, through practice-based classes and a required internship, they learn how to plan and manage the operations of events. Students combine these required courses with a tailored set of electives that can be based on their interest in the field, from marketing and business to live broadcast/audio production to musical and theatrical management and more.

Students interested in working in non-profit organizations, humanitarian institutes, and community agencies are strongly encouraged to apply. Students accepted into the minor are strongly encouraged to complete an academic plan with their minor adviser.
