State-of-the-Art Facilities

The James J. Whalen Center for Music is a 69,000 sq. ft. facility boasting three large recital halls and four separate rehearsal spaces, all of which are wired for multichannel analog and Dante-networked connectivity to any of our four control rooms. At the heart of our flagship Borg Warner studio lies a 48-channel SSL Duality delta console, which integrates with a Pro Tools Ultinate HDX system, a 24-track- 2-inch Studer A827 tape machine, 5.1 surround monitoring, and a premiere selection of outboard gear from Bricasti, Manley, Universal Audio, Maag, Neve, API, dbx, Chandler and more!

Additionally, our Sony Music Control Room features a recently upgraded 7.1.4 immersive audio system, which spports Dolby Atmos and Sony 360RA mixing environments. Altogether, SRT majors have access to over 20 individual Pro Tools Ultimate-equipped DAWs, which are oufitted with an extensive assortment of plug-ins from the major developers. 

Our diverse microhone locker contains a selection of over 120 microphones from the rare vintage to the modern and cutting-edge. With full access to all these microphones and a wide variety of high-end preamplifiers, students have an incredibly rich sonic palette at their disposal.
