Information Sessions

It's never too early to start planning for your study abroad adventure! Attending an information session is a great way to begin exploring your study abroad program options.

Live info sessions are offered at the beginning of each semester. Live info session times and dates are posted in late August for Fall semesters, and late January for Spring semesters.  If there are no live sessions available, please view one of our recorded info sessions, posted on this page, to get an early start in the study abroad planning process.

Study Abroad 101: The Basics

This session provides an overview of all of the study abroad possibilities available to you as an IC student. It is perfect for those who are just at the beginning stages of study abroad planning. We'll discuss how to best plan for study abroad, explain key terminology and types of programs available, talk about what to consider when choosing a program, and how to plan for the financial side of your study abroad experience.

This session discusses how you can best plan for study abroad from a financial perspective. We review costs, financial aid, budgeting, exchange rates, and additional scholarships.

STUDY ABROAD 102: ACADEMIC PLANNING

This session focuses on how to plan for study abroad from an academic perspective. We'll discuss how to determine the best semester for your study abroad experience, how to decide which degree requirements to satisfy abroad, and how to choose a program based on your academic needs and interests.

Affiliated Study Abroad Programs

Many of our affiliated partners occasionally offer either live or pre-recorded information sessions about their programs. Keep in mind that not all programs offered by each affiliated organization are affiliated with IC. You can email studyabroad@ithaca.edu to confirm the status of any program that interests you.

Study Abroad Fair Week Info Sessions (September 23-26)

Come to the Fair (Wed. 9/25, 4:00-6:00 pm, Emerson Suites) to get an overview of your options, and then come to an info session to take a deep dive into the study abroad program offerings of a particular study abroad partner!

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23

5:00-5:45 pm: University of Auckland (New Zealand)

The University of Auckland is located on the North Island of New Zealand. It is a prestigious research university that has courses in more than 150 academic disciplines, making it an ideal study abroad destination for students of all majors.

6:00-6:45 pm: CIEE Study Abroad - Design Your Own Study Abroad Semester

CIEE offers the popular Open Campus Block program, which allows students to design their own 1, 2, or 3 country study abroad semester. The Open Campus Block program is available in Argentina, Australia, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, and Spain. Additional affiliated study abroad programs are offered in the Dominican Republic, Ghana, and Jordan, as well as non-affiliated programs in many other locations.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24

2:00-4:30 pm: Coffee, Cookies, and Conversation with CEA CAPA Study Abroad
International Lounge - 070 Peggy Ryan Williams Center
This isn't an info session, but an informal, drop-in gathering that will allow you to learn more about CEA CAPA's programs. Affiliated options include Argentina, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Ireland, and Italy, and there are non-affiliated program options in many other countries. Enjoy gourmet cookies from Levain Bakery in NYC and enter to win a $1,500 flight voucher for a CEA CAPA study abroad program!

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

6:15-7:00 pm: Study in South Korea with The Education Abroad Network (TEAN)
Cayuga Lake Meeting Room, Campus Center
TEAN offers affiliated programs in China, Fiji, South Korea, and Thailand, as well as non-affiliated programs in many other countries. This session will focus on TEAN's program in South Korea, but will also review their other available destinations.

7:15-8:00 pm: University of Canterbury (New Zealand)
Cayuga Lake Meeting Room, Campus Center
The University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand is a good option for students from most majors. Students can choose from a wide variety of courses at this internationally recognized institution, in a city that is the gateway to the beautiful South Island in New Zealand.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26

12:10-12:50 pm: Study in Japan with CIS Abroad
Cayuga Lake Meeting Room, Campus Center
CIS Abroad offers affiliated programs in Italy, Japan, Scotland, and Thailand, as well as non-affiliated programs in many other countries. This session will focus on their programs in Japan, though other destinations will also be covered.

5:00-5:45 pm: Study in Spain with Spanish Studies Abroad
Cayuga Lake Meeting Room, Campus Center
Spanish Studies Abroad offers affiliated programs in Argentina, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Spain. This program will focus on their options in Spain, including programs in Alicante, Barcelona, and Seville. Information will also be provided about their other program locations.

6:00-6:45 pm: University of Sydney (Australia)
Cayuga Lake Meeting Room, Campus Center
The University of Sydney in Australia offers an extensive list of courses that can work for all majors. This session will provide a thorough overview of the university and what it is like to study there for a semester. They will review everything you need to know, including the application process, courses and academics, internships, travel opportunities, and housing.

Summer Study Abroad

Interested in studying abroad, but not sure you can get away for a full semester? Come explore the wide range of options for summer study abroad, through IC's own London program, our exchange and affiliated partners, and other quality non-affiliated programs. Summer programs range in length from just a couple of weeks to a full summer, and offer options for coursework and internships.  There's a program out there that matches your interests and needs, and we'll help you find it!
