Graduation Honor Cords for the December Commencement Ceremony

The Latin honors listed within the commencement program and honor cord distribution are based on cumulative GPA calculated and IC credits earned as of October 1, 2021.  This calculation and deadline is for the purposes of the ceremony only and does not affect the final awarded degree or transcript. Changes will not be made to ceremony honors status or distribution of honor cords after October 1, 2021.

Graduation Honor Cords for the May Commencement Ceremony

The Latin honors listed within the commencement program and honor cord distribution are based on cumulative GPA calculated and IC credits earned as of February 1, 2022. This calculation and deadline is for the purposes of the ceremony only and does not affect the final awarded degree or transcript. Changes will not be made to ceremony honors status or distribution of honor cords after February 1, 2022.

Honor Cord Distribution

For students attending December Commencement, earned honor cords based on your October 1, 2021 GPA will be distributed at the check-in table in the Athletics and Events Center just prior to the Commencement ceremony on December 12. 

For students attending May Commencement, more details about when and where to pick up your earned honor cords will be provided after January 2022.  

Graduation Honors for Awarded Degree and Final Transcripts

Seniors whose FINAL cumulative GPA reflects excellent scholarship are awarded their degree with the designation of cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude. The cumulative GPA ranges for the three honors designations are listed below. A minimum of 60 credits must be earned at Ithaca College to qualify for this recognition.

HONOR GPA
Summa cum Laude 3.900 and above
Magna cum Laude 3.700-3.899
Cum Laude 3.500-3.699
