Every August and January, we are thrilled to welcome in a new class of students to IC through a comprehensive, inclusive, FUN orientation program! New first-year and transfer students will have the chance to connect with faculty and staff, get familiar with campus resources, learn about all of the opportunities available to you as an IC student, while also participating in exciting social events and winning prizes.

Here's a preview of the Fall 2026 Orientation program:
• August 17, 2026: Early Move-in (international students & Jumpstart participants) & Jumpstart Welcome 
• August 18, 2026: Jumpstart & Athlete Orientation 
• August 19, 2026: New Student Move-In , International Student Orientation, Fall Orientation Begins 
• August 20-23 2026: Mandatory Orientation Programming 
• August 24, 2026: Fall Classes Begin

Orientation Guiding Principles

Orientation is intentionally created to support all new students' transition to the Ithaca community and is guided by our commitment to the following values:

Social Connections & Belonging: Facilitating meaningful opportunities for students to connect with one another and build relationships, navigate the personal and social transition into college life, and find a sense a belonging at IC. 

Academic Transition: ​Preparing students to be engaged learners, ready for academic success.

Family Program: Committing to quality parent, family member, and other supporters programming and resources that acknowledges their significant role in student support. 

School Spirit: Helping new students develop a sense of school spirit through traditions and pride in our institution.

Community Connections: Introducing students and their families to the broader Ithaca community.
