Fall Orientation Schedule

First-year and transfer students can expect their orientation schedules to follow the general structure of events below.

Thursday, August 17: New students check in for orientation and those living on campus move in to their residence hall room. A welcome event for new students and their families will take place in the early evening, followed by Residential Hall "cluster" meetings.

Friday, August 18: Students will meet their Orientation Leader and fellow small-group members! These are the students you will spend the most time with during orientation, attending events and huddles together throughout the week. The first Academic Session will be held, where students can meet faculty, staff, and students in their schools and ask academic advising questions.  Later, there will be a selection of fun evening social events to attend.

Saturday, August 19 - Sunday, August 20: The orientation fun continues with various educational and social events, including DEIB sessions, transfer student programming, and ICarnival!

Monday, August 21: Continued program offerings will include campus resources, the second Academic Session, and more exciting evening social events.

Tuesday, August 22nd: On this final day of orientation, students will attend Convocation which is a celebration hosted by President Cornish, faculty, and staff to welcome them to Ithaca College, followed by a community picnic.

Some examples of evening socials are Silent Disco Night, LGBTQ+ Pride Night, Photo Quest, ICarnival, Karaoke, Paint and Sip, and BINGO.

Parents, Family Members, & Other Supporters

Due to high demand for hotel accommodations in the Ithaca area for dates around on-campus move-in, we highly recommend booking your stay as soon as possible if necessary.

Our Family and Supporter Orientation programming will take place virtually over the summer as well as some in-person options during Fall Orientation in August. During the summer sessions, individuals will have the opportunity to connect with various campus offices, ask questions, and develop a better understanding of the supportive resources available to you and your student. Stay tuned for more information about family and supporter offerings on August 17-18 of Fall Orientation.
