Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC)

The Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) is an officer commissioning program designed as a college elective that focuses on leadership development, management skills, ethics, and strategic planning. Students do not join the military by enrolling in ROTC courses; however, those who complete the ROTC program become commissioned officers.

Ithaca College is under agreement with Cornell University for students who wish to enroll in one of two ROTC programs:

  • the U.S. Army ROTC
  • U.S. Air Force ROTC

Scholarships are available to qualified applicants.

To enroll in ROTC courses at Cornell as an ROTC cadet:

  1. Complete the IC Petition and return to OES@ithaca.edu.
  2. Complete the Cornell Registration form and submit to Cornell's School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions (CESS@cornell.edu). Cornell charges a $25 per course registration fee.

In order to receive credit on your Ithaca College official transcript, an official transcript must be received from Cornell University with the ROTC courses and grades achieved. This information is maintained in the Office of the Registrar at Ithaca College.

Interested in taking military science courses at Cornell outside the ROTC program? You may do so through the ICCU Exchange Program.
