Does your degree audit (Degree Works) say you need to select a theme?

By Angela Gian-Cursio, February 8, 2022
What's your theme?

"What's your theme?" This question may seem unimportant but declaring your theme is what guides you in completion of your themes and perspectives ICC requirements.

Why is this important?

  • Each of the four (4) perspective courses within your chosen theme examines a set of questions from that particular scholarly or professional perspective.
  • Without a designated theme, it can be challenging to accurately select the perspective classes you need to complete your Themes and Perspectives degree requirements.
  • Once you have declared your theme you will be able to search for designated classes directly from within Degree Works for those perspectives you still need to complete.

Declaring your theme is easy - just visit IC Workflow to complete your Theme Declaration. You can learn more about themes and perspectives and how to declare (or change) your theme here. In Degree Works, you can run a “What-if” degree audit by applying different themes to your major and minors to see which might work best for you. And you can always contact us with questions using this form, or email us at icc@ithaca.edu. We’re happy to talk with you via email, in person on campus, or on Zoom.
