Title

Welcome to the Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training

Prepare yourself for a career in human performance and wellness.

Prepare yourself with the knowledge and practical skills to address growing societal concerns about and interest in fitness, wellness, sport, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. We offer two undergraduate majors, in athletic training and exercise science, which incorporate theory and practical application of exercise science principles. You will be able to customize your exercise science degree to your interests, by selecting one of four concentrations (clinical exercise and wellness, medical sciences, sport sciences, or strength and conditioning). Our undergraduate students are prepared for a wide range of opportunities once they graduate, from continuing on to pursue graduate-level studies or entering the workforce.

At the graduate level, we offer a flexible master's in exercise science to provide you with an opportunity to deepen your theoretical understanding by customizing your degree with a focus on one of three areas: exercise physiology, sport psychology, or human performance. For any concentration, if you are inclined toward theory and research, we recommend our thesis plan. If your orientation is more applied, consider our non-thesis plan, which may include an internship. To attain a more comprehensive experience, you can complete all the prescribed courses, a thesis, and an applied internship.
