The Bachelor of Music in Sound Recording Technology degree is designed for the student who seeks extensive musical training alongside their audio studies for all four years. Students typically have a history of formal training with their primary instrument or voice. The curriculum is approximately 50% music studies, including several years of music theory, aural skills, music history, and ensemble performance. In addition to an interview with SRT faculty, students must qualify for admission through a musical audition.
CURRICULUM
Within our Bachelor of Music program, in addition to core classes that focus on legacy recording techniqyes, you will be trained in the latest recording and mixing methods in state-of-the-art facilities. To complement your musical studies, you will take courses in Audio Production, Theatre Sound, and Physics at the School of Humanities and Sciences. Your skills will be honest and developed over the four eyars as a paid engineer working for Ithaca College's Recording Services, culminating in an internship in the field during your senior year. You will also create a senior project, acting as a producer, recording/mixing engineer, and mastering engineer. This will serve as a portfolio piece, demonstrating that you are both an audio professional and a trained musician.
