We know that a simple number doesn’t always tell the whole story.

Every student is an individual with talents, skills, accomplishments, and potential that cannot be reduced to a single test score.

For this reason, in most cases, we give you the choice to submit your SAT or ACT scores, or to withhold them from consideration altogether. Please note, if you are home-schooled or attend a high school that provides only descriptive report cards (rather than alphanumeric grades), you must submit either SAT or ACT scores.

Ithaca College has been test optional since 2012.

If you decide to take advantage of our test optional policy, you will be equally considered for admission to Ithaca College and for academic/talent based scholarship awards.

While we are a test-optional institution, applicants to Ithaca College who do wish to have standardized test scores considered in their admission review are invited to submit SAT or ACT scores. You may self-report your SAT or ACT scores in one of the following ways:

  • Provide your scores in the testing section of the Common Application or Coalition Application
  • Have your scores sent to Ithaca College directly from the testing agency (may require a fee to the testing agency)
