Creating a Welcoming and Inclusive Environment for All

Image of the Eight Dimensions of Wellness wheel. Is comprised of eight pie-shaped wedges, each representing a unique dimension of wellness. The eight wedges are encircled with and outer ring that is labeled with the words Equity, Inclusion , and Belonging.

Ithaca College has encircled our holistic wellness model with equity, inclusion and belonging. Without equitable access, treatment and services, individuals cannot achieve their full wellness potential. We know that wellness is impacted by systemic, structural, and political inequalities that impact an individual's access and experiences with wellness information and resources.

Individuals that hold identities that have been marginalized in the dominant society have not had equitable access or experiences with wellness information and resources. Some of these identities include but are not limited to an individual’s; ability and mental health status, age, ethnicity, culture, or national origin, gender identity or expression, first generation status, immigration status, recovery status, race, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and veteran or military status. Individuals are impacted differently based on their full selves and how their identities intersect.
