Michael Gorup is assistant professor of politics at Ithaca College. His research and teaching focus on modern and contemporary political thought, U.S. political and constitutional development, and the politics of race, democracy, and capitalism. He is the author of The Counterrevolutionary Shadow: Race, Democracy, and the Making of the American People, which has just recently been published as part of the American Political Thought book series at the University Press of Kansas.
