Degree Progress
Compare the student’s degree schematic with their Degree Works audit.
Together, determine the best set of courses for the student to take next semester.
Remember: The courses listed on the schematic for a particular semester are a suggested sequence, not a mandate . If you and the student decide on a different course sequence:
If students plan to study abroad in a future semester, refer them to the study aboard office. The deadline for study aboard in AY 2027-2028 is February 15, 2027.
If a student needs PFMJ 19900 (rep and ped), then they should already be enrolled in PFMJ 10000 (studio performance). You will need to submit a Course Waiver Substitution form for a course substitution with the reason “Due to curriculum revision, course no longer required to meet programs learning outcomes.”
Voice Performance/ Voice Music Education and Performance Changes
To efficiently staff the voice curriculum, we have approved these changes for Spring 2027.
If a student needs MUPS 12000 (Singing Performer I) or MUPS 12200 (Singing Performer II), then have them enroll in MUPS 12500 (Singing Performer: Embodied Movement).
If a student needs MUPS 22000 (Singing Performer III), then have them enroll in THEA 10700 (The Actor’s Process).
If a student needs MUPS 45500 (Voice Pedagogy) or needs to fulfill voice performance electives in the MUED/PERF degree, then have them enroll in MUPS 25500 (Vocal Mechanics).
Recitals: If the student is a performance major and plans to complete a required recital :
Recital Attendance: Remind students to register for recital attendance .
Most Chamber Music : To make sure students are registering for the correct Chamber Music experience, there is an approval of the instructor needed for each class. Tell the student to submit a Course Override Form (found on workflow) to request a seat. Individual faculty will then need to approve these students so they can successfully enroll.
CRN: Remind the student to make a list of the CRNs they need to successfully register for their classes
RAC: Give the student their registration access code (you can see this on Degree Works in the top box)
