For over a decade, Opera Ithaca has offered world-class performances on local community stages. Founded by Ithaca College alumni Lynn Craver ’14 and Zachary James ’05, Opera Ithaca invites talent from all over the world—and right here in Ithaca—to perform a wide-ranging repertoire of classic and contemporary works, earning a reputation for championing diversity, inclusion, and accessibility to ensure the vitality and relevance of this classical artform.

The Essentials

FOUNDED: 2014

MISSION: Engage the community through outstanding opera performances, provide educational opportunities for young artists, and offer culturally rich experiences.

ARTISTIC PROGRAMS: Including two annual productions, community education, and an apprentice artist program providing opportunities for the next generation of voices

VENUES: Hangar Theatre, Kitchen Theatre, and State Theatre of Ithaca
