An intentional, student-selected series of courses and thought-provoking academic experiences designed to help you connect concepts across disciplines. These courses are woven through every step of your academic journey and complement your major.
- Your introductory seminar (ICSM) covers strategies for transitioning to life as a college student as well as the unique benefits of combining theory, practice, and performance at IC.
- The four different perspectives of the ICC -- Creative Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences -- foster cultural and global understanding, provide knowledge of the physical and natural world, and inspire individual and social responsibility.
- Competency classes -- Academic Writing, Writing Intensive, Diversity, and Quantitative Literacy -- assist with the development and expression of ideas, allow for meaningful engagement with others by placing social justice in historical and political context, and foster an ability to reason and solve quantitative problems from a wide array of everyday life situations.
- Your culminating Capstone course allows for deep reflection on the integrated and overlapping learning of curricular and co-curricular experiences. Students reflect on their individual journeys while preparing for next steps in their educations and/or careers.
Each new learning experience expands your point of view, challenges you to think differently, and helps you develop the confidence and skills critical to your future success.
