Most of the Ithaca College benefits plans are governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) which covers pension and welfare plans. In order to comply with this Act, certain reporting, disclosure, and notification requirements must be met. Although the staff in the Office of Human Resources strive to issue communications that are concise and readable, sometimes the language and format is dictated by ERISA and other legislation. Supervisors should not hesitate to contact the Office of Human Resources or refer employees to that office for an interpretation or clarification of benefit plan documents.
