Showcase your impact with structured, searchable profile pages.

Faculty and staff profiles display biographical information, contact details, credentials, and areas of expertise. Learn how profile fields work, what content is required, and more.

Profile Lifecycle

Faculty/Staff profiles are created automatically and remain published while an employee is actively affiliated with the institution, unless otherwise requested.

Employees Leaving the Institution

When a faculty or staff member leaves:

  • Their profile will generally be unpublished rather than deleted.
  • Unpublishing removes the profile from public-facing pages while preserving the content internally.
  • This allows departments to retain historical information and restore profiles if needed.

Emeritus Profiles

Emeritus faculty profiles are generally retained after retirement or departure to preserve institutional and academic history, unless there is a specific request to remove them.

Profile Sections

Faculty/Staff profiles support structured profile information, including:

  • Name
  • Department
  • School
  • Phone Number
  • Email
  • Location
  • Primary Specialty
  • Headshot
  • Social Links

These can be edited from the "Personal Info" tab of the editing view. Editors can also override displayed contact details when necessary.

Topics, pages, and categories can be added to bolster a faculty or staff profile. Ensure sections are only added when relevant to the individual’s role, academic work, research, publications, events, or institutional involvement. Avoid adding empty or unnecessary sections, as this can create inconsistent profile layouts and diminish usability.

Profiles should remain focused, concise, and professionally curated. Use supporting content strategically to highlight accomplishments, expertise, media appearances, research initiatives, performances, or departmental contributions.

Utilize the Section Heading component to add logically separated and clearly labeled sections to your profile.

Best Practices

Headshots

  • Use high-quality professional images.
  • Maintain consistent sizing and framing across profiles.

Primary Specialty

  • Keep specialties concise.
  • Examples:
    • Cello
    • Middle East Studies
    • Chinese Literature
    • Molecular Biology

Contact Information

  • Only display information intended for public visibility.
  • Use override fields when alternate contact information should appear publicly.

Media Usage

  • Use galleries and embedded media selectively to support professional accomplishments, lectures, performances, or research.

Profile Maintenance

Faculty and Staff profiles should be reviewed periodically to ensure:

  • Contact information remains accurate
  • Media and links are still functional
  • News and collections remain relevant
  • Outdated content is removed or updated
