Katherine “Kat” Fischer, an IMC sophomore, is in the running, with her business partners, to win a $20,000 prize for the Ithaca College Business Plan Competition. Six businesses will give a 10-minute presentation about their company, followed by five minutes of Q&A from a panel of experienced judges. After deliberation, the top three business plans will be announced. Kat, and her partners, have already won the award for Ithaca College’s 2014 Business Idea Competition. Their idea was to create an app, On Set, that uses sound recognition to allow movie goers to remember the trailers that they liked, stay up to date on the movie through social media and purchase tickets.
Kat explained the idea behind the app, “I love going to the movies, and I wanted to create a product that helped people remember the unique nature of the movie going experience.” The next step for Kat and her business partners will be to compete in the final competition. The final competition will showcase six teams on April 28, 2015, in Emerson Suites at Ithaca College. More information on the On Set app can be found on their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/onsetmovies/timeline.
