Student Institute

Providing a rich and nurturing program for the young "Twinkle" student as well as for intermediate and advanced players. Enrollment is open to students studying Suzuki violin, viola, or cello literature with a teacher who has done Suzuki teacher training. Students may enroll for either or both weeks of the institute.

A Typical Day

Each Student Institute musician will be scheduled for 3 core classes each day: masterclass, repertoire class, and an enrichment (visit our enrichment page to see  options!). All students in book 4 and up will additionally be scheduled for orchestra. 

NEW THIS YEAR:  All students in books 1 - 3 will be scheduled for TWO enrichment classes.  All students in book 4 and up will have one enrichment class and be scheduled for orchestra.

Classes are scheduled beginning at 8 am (EST) Monday and break for lunch from 12:00- 1:30 pm. Each day, students are invited to attend a 2:45 pm play- in (if not in orchestra at that time) as well as a daily 4 pm student recital.

Week 1 is our designated viola week, if you're a violist, please join us week 1!

Check in for both weeks is Sunday from 1-3:30 pm (EST). Events will finish by 5:30 pm on Friday (please join us for an optional institute party at 7:30 on Friday if you can!). For those staying on campus, check out is Saturday at noon.

January 4-February 22: Advanced Program, Preludio 

January 4- March 1: scholarship applications accepted

March 15: Registration opens

May 2nd: Registration closes (no late registrants!)

June 27- July 9: Preludio Violin Program, Sonare Cello Program, Advanced Programs and Teacher Training

June 27- July 2: Student Institute Week 1 

July 4 - July 9: Student Institute Week 2 (regular class schedule on July 4)
