This guide walks through the process of adding a Page to a Site, though the process is similar for adding other content types, such as Categories and Topics. View the resource below for more on content types.
Steps to adding a page
Tutorial
New to Drupal? Start with Signing Into Drupal, then come back here.
Step 1
Go to the site, topic, or category that will hold the new page, then click "Add Page" in the row of tabs at the top.
Step 2
Enter a Page Title. This becomes the heading at the top of the page, the label in the left-hand menu, and the web address, so keep it short and plain.
Step 3
Fill in the Intro Heading. The Intro is added for you and always sits at the top of the page, though you can remove it if you do not want one. The Intro Text below the heading is optional and works well as a one or two sentence lead-in.
Step 4
Under Content, click "Add Content" and pick a component. Add as many as you need and drag them into order using the handle on the left of each one. See Paragraphs (Components) for what each one does.
Step 5
Open the "Teaser" tab and add Teaser Text and a Teaser Image. These appear when your page is listed somewhere else, such as inside a category.
Step 6
Your new page is added to the left-hand menu automatically. If you would rather it not appear there, open "Menu settings" in the right-hand panel and turn off "Provide a menu link."
Step 7
If the page should only be visible to certain people, open "Page Access" in the right-hand panel and choose the groups or individuals who can see it. See Access Controls for how this works.
Step 8
Leave "Save as" set to "Draft" and click "Save." Your page is created but not yet visible to visitors.
Step 9
Read the page through, and when it is ready, set "Change to" to "Published" and click "Apply."
Draft pages stay hidden from visitors until you publish them. For more on draft, published, and revision history, see the documentation below.
