Kendra Arbaiza-Sundal, Politics '09, is in the US Foreign Service. She joined the US Foreign Service, in the State Department, in January 2016. She has served in Luxembourg, Turkey and Brazil. As a student at IC, Kendra was active in Model UN and studied abroad in Ghana. She had the following to say about her experience:
“The professors in the Politics Department – and in the School of Humanities and Sciences more broadly – were incredibly supportive and their doors were always open to students. They challenged us, mentored us, and provided us with a safe space to learn. The low student-teacher ratio lent itself to rigorous discussions and debates in class, building critical thinking skills. In addition, the Model UN team was like a second family, and the skills we honed – policy research, public speaking, negotiating – are ones that have proven essential throughout my career.”
