Barbara Honer Bridenbaugh '52 Scholarship for Humanities and Sciences

Awarded to a student in the School of Humanities and Sciences in good academic standing with demonstrated financial need.

David and Linda Bachrach Family Scholarship

Awarded to junior students in the School of Humanities and Sciences in good academic standing with demonstrated financial need. The scholarship may be renewed if the recipients continue to meet criteria.


Pervi Family Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student in the School of Humanities and Sciences with demonstrated financial need who is a United States Marine Corps disabled veteran due to combat injuries for which a Purple Heart has been awarded, or the minor dependent of a United States Marine killed in action due to hostile fire, or a student selected for the honors program. The criteria reflect the order of preference for the award.

School of Humanities and Sciences 50th Anniversary Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving student in the School of Humanities and Sciences with demonstrated financial need.

Stephen D. and Mary C. Ford Family Scholarship Fund

Awarded to a student or students in the School of Humanities and Sciences in good academic standing with demonstrated financial need.

Truman K. Powers Scholarship

Established in memory of Truman K. Powers, an Ithaca attorney, by his family and friends. Awarded to an outstanding junior who is interested in a law career and has a GPA of at least 3.20.

Art

Mary Helen Hart '35 Scholarship
Awarded to students at Ithaca College who major in art. Created by Mary Helen Hart in memory of her father and mother, Donald and Martha Negus.

Dicker Family Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving student in the School of Humanities and Sciences who is majoring in art and has demonstrated financial need. Established in December 2006 in honor of Jaclyn G. Dicker '08 and her achievements.
 

Art History

Professor G. Ferris Cronkhite Scholarship
Awarded to students with demonstrated financial need who show success in English, art history, French literature, German literature, or Spanish literature. Established through a generous bequest from Professor G. Ferris Cronkhite. Professor Cronkhite joined the Ithaca College English department faculty in 1966. He retired in 1982 and was named professor emeritus in 1985.

Florence Marro Gallagher Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving and committed student in the School of Music or in one of the following majors: acting, art, art education, art history, drama, musical theatre, theatre arts management, or theatrical production arts. The student must have demonstrated financial need. Established in memory of Florence Marro Gallagher by her son, John E. Gallagher Jr. '69.

Biology

Flo and Jack Bernard Scholarship
Awarded to juniors and seniors in the biology program who are in good academic standing and who have demonstrated financial need.

George A. Gonzalez-Gallardo '79 Scholarship
Awarded to students recommended by the faculty of the Department of Biology. Established in memory of George A. Gonzalez-Gallardo.

Larry Metzger, M.S. '87, Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to rising junior or senior majoring in biology, biochemistry, or chemistry with demonstrated significant financial need. The recipient must also have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 and intend to pursue an advanced degree in science other than a medical degree. Established by Ithaca College in conjunction with donations from Larry's family, colleagues, and friends to honor and remember his many contributions and great dedication to the College community for over 30 years.

Thomas Morrin Jones Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a senior who has demonstrated financial need; who is majoring in biology, chemistry, mathematics, or some combination of the sciences; and who, through his or her academic work and community activities, best exemplifies a commitment to the liberal arts and the tradition of social service as personified by Thomas Morrin Jones.

Communication Studies

Carolyn Gilbert '64 Speech Communication Honor Scholarship
Awarded to a junior or senior communication studies major who has a grade point average of at least 3.5. Established by the late Carolyn Gilbert, a former member of the speech communication faculty.

Hardwin Abbot-Davies '91 Scholarship
Awarded to a rising senior in communication studies. The recipient must be in good academic standing, show financial need, and be recommended by a faculty member in the communication studies department.

Lillian Speakman Vail '21 Scholarship
Awarded to juniors and seniors with established records of academic achievement and community service. Preference is given to students in music, theatre arts, or speech communication. Established by the family and friends of Lillian Speakman Vail to honor her lifelong friendship with, service to, and support of Ithaca College.
 

Economics

Trevor W. Jahn '06 Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving student in the School of Humanities and Sciences with a grade point average of 2.8 or higher who has demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to a student majoring or minoring in economics. Established in memory of Trevor W. Jahn by his immediate family and his grandparents Robert and Dorothy Jahn.

English Majors Scholarship
Awarded to English majors who have outstanding academic records and proven financial need. Established by gifts from faculty members and alumni.

Gertrude Spencer English Award
Awarded to an English major whose talent, academic ability, and achievement demonstrate an outstanding command of the English language.

Frances Noble Newell '32 Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student with demonstrated financial need who is majoring in theatre arts or English and has a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Preference is given to students from Pennsylvania. Established in memory of Frances Noble Newell by her daughter, Debbie Duffield.

John Edward Gallagher Sr. Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving and committed student or students in one of the following majors: history, English, or philosophy. The student(s) must have demonstrated financial need. Established in memory of John Edward Gallagher Sr. by his son, John E. Gallagher Jr. '69.

Michael N. Clark '15 Endowed Scholarship

Awarded to a student for academic excellence in English. Financial need is not required. Established by family and friends in memory of Michael N. Clark.

Daphne B. Hammond Endowed Scholarship in Gerontology
Awarded to an outstanding student majoring in gerontology who has demonstrated financial need. Established in 2003 through the generosity of Daphne B. Hammond.

John E. Krout Scholarship in Aging Studies
Awarded to an outstanding student majoring in aging studies. In the absence of a qualified student with a major in aging studies, a student with a minor in that field can be considered. Preference is given to a student with demonstrated financial need.

Francille M. and John D. Firebaugh Endowed Scholarship in Gerontology
Awarded to an outstanding student in the aging studies (gerontology) program (major, minor, or certificate) who has demonstrated financial need. In the event a suitable candidate is not identified, the award may be made to a student in the social sciences who demonstrates financial need.

History

David W. Sass '57 History Scholarship
Awarded to academically accomplished history majors with proven need and the recommendation of Department of History faculty members. Preference is given to students entering their junior or senior year. Established to recognize outstanding achievement in the study of history. Made possible through a gift from David W. Sass, a graduate of the history department and an honorary member of the Ithaca College Board of Trustees.

Elliot Mayrock '73 History Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming freshman or transfer student who has declared an intention to major in history or social studies. Established by Elliot Mayrock.

John Edward Gallagher Sr. Endowed Scholarship

Peter F. and Carol L. Seligmann Memorial Scholarship in Physics
Awarded to a rising sophomore, junior, or senior who is a declared physics major. Eligible students must demonstrate excellence in physics, as determined by the department chair, and have demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to female students. Established in memory of Professor and Mrs. Seligmann.

Awarded to a student in the Department of Theatre Arts, with preference given to acting majors. Recipients must demonstrate progressive academic achievement. Established in memory of Cissy Cheskis by her son, Robert Saxner '88.

Douglas '78 and Julie Weisman Professional Development Scholarship
Awarded to a theatre arts major to support professional development activities. To be eligible, students must be a junior or senior and have demonstrated financial need. Established by Douglas and Julie Weisman.

Dr. John B. Oblak Scholarship in Theatre Arts

Awarded to students in the Department of Theatre Arts with demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to African American, Latino, Asian American, and Native American (ALANA) students. Established in memory of John B. Oblak by his friends and family.

Awarded to outstanding theatre arts majors. Established in memory of Richard M. Clark, chair of the Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts from 1981 to 1987, by friends, colleagues, alumni, and family.

Roberta Barnett Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a theatre arts student who has clear promise and demonstrated financial need. Established by John Bartholomew Tucker '52 in honor of his teacher Professor Roberta Barnett.

Theatre Arts Alumni Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in theatre arts. Created by alumni and friends to honor the unique educational experience provided in the Department of Theatre Arts, while establishing a permanent memorial to deceased alumni, faculty, and others.
