Care for Acute Illness and Injuries

If you're not feeling well or have a minor injury, the Cayuga Health at Ithaca College is here to help you feel better and get back to your routine. We offer timely, walk-in or same-day appointments when available, and we treat a wide range of sudden illnesses and non-life-threatening injuries. 

Common Acute Illnesses

  • Colds, flu, and COVID-19 symptoms 
    We provide testing, treatment, and self-care guidance.
  • Sore throats and strep throat 
    On-site rapid strep testing and throat cultures as needed.
  • Fever, body aches, and chills 
    Evaluation to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.
  • Sinus infections and nasal congestion 
    Diagnosis and treatment for bacterial or viral sinusitis.
  • Ear infections, ear pain, or wax buildup 
    Assessment and treatment, including ear irrigation if needed.
  • Coughs and bronchitis 
    We help you manage lingering or disruptive symptoms.
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs) 
    Urine testing and same-day treatment available.
  • Stomach issues 
    Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain assessments.
  • Eye infections or irritation 
    Evaluation for pink eye, styes, or allergic conjunctivitis.
  • Rashes or allergic reactions 
    Fast evaluation of new skin concerns, insect bites, or hives.

Minor Injuries

  • Sprains and strains 
    Evaluation, basic splinting, crutches, and activity guidance.
  • Minor cuts, abrasions, and burns 
    Cleaning, bandaging, and wound care supplies.
  • Bruising, swelling, or joint pain 
    Assessment and referrals for imaging if needed.
  • Headaches or minor head bumps 
    Evaluation and monitoring for concussion symptoms.
  • Back or neck pain 
    Treatment for strain, posture-related pain, or overuse.

Additional Support

  • On-site lab testing (e.g., strep, flu, COVID-19, urinalysis)
  • Prescription medication or over-the-counter recommendations
  • Follow-up care to monitor your recovery
