Jack Wang, associate professor and chair of the Department of Writing, has sold two books—We Two Alone, a collection of short stories and a novella, and The Riveters, a novel-in-progress—to House of Anansi Press, Canada’s foremost independent literary publisher.

Set in Vancouver, Shanghai, Vienna, London, and New York, We Two Alone dramatizes the Chinese diaspora over the past hundred years. Stories from the collection have been longlisted for the Writers' Trust McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize and shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize. We Two Alone will appear under House of Anansi’s short story imprint Astoria in Canada and the US in the spring of 2020.

The Riveters, a novel-in-progress about Chinese Canadians who serve during the Second World War to prove their loyalty to country and earn the franchise, will appear in 2024.

Founded in 1967, House of Anansi Press has published acclaimed Canadian authors such as Margaret Atwood, Michael Ondaatje, Patrick deWitt, and Lisa Moore. Jack Wang is represented by Jackie Kaiser of Westwood Creative Artists.
