Each year, SASP conducts an information session for students interested in working with Public Safety. At that time, students will learn more about the SASP organization and will have an opportunity to ask any questions they might have. Students may, however, APPLY at any time online before the information session. After an interview with the current executive board, selected candidates will enter into the training program.
All SASP candidates are required to complete the basic training before they are hired as probationary employees. The candidate phase consists primarily of classroom instruction plus an observational patrol, which encompasses a total of approximately 12 hours of training. Promotional opportunities exist thereafter to Junior member, Senior member and Executive Board member.
All SASP members must be enrolled as full or part-time students at Ithaca College and must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.6. All employees must also be in good standing with Student Financial Services and have a clean history with the Office of Judicial Affairs.
