Yash Mohod '25 displays his thermal diffusion apparatus

Yash V. Mohod is a senior at Ithaca College pursuing a double major in Physics and Computer Science, with a minor in Mathematics. He has engaged in a range of high-level research projects that span computational modeling, experimental physics, and software development. His most recent work—“Computational Physics in the Advanced Lab: Experiment and Simulation of Thermal Diffusion in Metal Rods” —has been submitted for publication in the American Journal of Physics and was presented at the American Physical Society March Meeting in 2024.

Yash’s contributions to the Department of Physics and Astronomy include advanced simulation work using Optical Tweezers, where he employs high-performance computing resources from the San Diego Supercomputer Center to investigate particle behavior in varying light fields. He also conducted earlier research on the Tolman-Stewart experiment, focusing on data noise reduction and signal clarity.

Beyond the lab, Yash serves as both an Operations Coordinator and lead developer for Anzen, an internal application supporting the college’s Student Auxiliary Safety Patrol. His multidisciplinary skill set, coupled with a consistent commitment to research excellence, has positioned him as a standout scholar and leader within Ithaca College’s scientific community.
