Study Abroad Orientations

These sessions are MANDATORY for students who have been accepted to study abroad on an exchange, affiliated, non-affiliated, or faculty-led program.
Who should attend?

Orientation dates for students who have been accepted to study abroad on a Winter or Spring 2027 exchange, affiliated, or non-affiliated program will be announced in early September.  Dates for those going on a Summer or Fall 2027 program will be announced in late January 2027.

Sessions are held via Zoom. Students should make every effort to attend both sessions at the time they are offered, but each will be recorded and made available for viewing online if you can't attend the synchronous meetings.

In addition to the orientation sessions, all students going abroad will be invited to join the Study Abroad Orientation site in Canvas. Students will receive invitations to join the Canvas site upon confirming acceptance to a study abroad program, or by mid-semester of the term preceding the study abroad experience. Students must complete readings and quizzes in the Canvas site prior to going abroad.

IC LOGISTICS

The IC Logistics session goes over all of the logistical information you'll need to understand issues like credit and grade transfer, registering for classes while abroad, billing and payment for study abroad programs, on-campus housing when you return, and accessing support from Student Accessibility Services while abroad.

TRAVELING ABROAD

The Traveling Abroad session deals with important information about international travel, including passports & visas, safety & security while abroad, accessing your money from abroad, culture shock, packing, and many other relevant topics.
