Golf carts:
- Can never be left unattended with keys in the golf cart.
- Must remain locked and secured when not in use.
- Prior to every usage, the operator must complete a full inspection of all operating and safety features of the golf cart, including but not limited to brakes, horns, and lights.
- Driver should comply with any and all applicable local or state traffic laws and regulations.
- May not be operated in inclement weather.
- May never exceed the intended passenger capacity of a golf cart.
- May never be operated under the influence of medication, alcohol, or drugs.
- Drivers are not permitted to use personal electronic devices, including, but not limited to, cell phones, tablets, and headphones, while operating a golf cart.
- Golf carts should never be parked on inclined surfaces. If this is completely unavoidable due to location or circumstances, the emergency break must be engaged for the full duration of parking and the wheels should be turned into the slope to limit the distance a cart might travel.
- If crossing of a vehicular roadway is required, crossing is to be completed only at designated crosswalks.
- May not be operated by students.
- Operator must report all property damage and injuries to their supervisor and the Office of Public Safety at 607-274-3333 and Risk Management at 607-274-3285.
