How can I find out about jobs and internships?

Try looking at the databases below for everything from volunteer work to faculty positions at research institutions. If you want to look at a broad range of possible careers in the field of biology, the website of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology has published an index page entitled Careers in Biology.

There are many job boards that list biology jobs, such as:

  • managed for Ithaca College by AfterCollege
  • After College is the largest career network specializing in recruitment at the college level
  • employers such as Agilent, Covance and Schlumberger now have opportunities available for science majors
  • information about these and other opportunities are available on the Job Resource Center

Hobart William Smith Colleges is searching for an Animal and Plant Technician. 

Summary of Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility is to provide technical support for plant and animal care to the department of Biology. The technician cares for and manages all plants and animals, ensures that all federal and state regulations or guidelines regarding animals are routinely satisfied, assists the Chair of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and departmental faculty to collect and review all animal protocols for laboratory or field research, supervises student assistants in the technical operation of classroom laboratories involving plants or animals, helps to administer the department budget, is responsible for preparing teaching laboratories, and manages any department-related functions as assigned.
